| Background:ObjectiveMethodResult Oral health is a critical but an overlooked component of overall health and well-being among children and adults. The detrimental consequences of dental disease have been well documented in the literature. Huge differences exist between actual dental service utilization and oral health needs in several resource constraint nations of sub-Saharan Africa. Hence, most patients seek treatment for symptomatic relief of pain and sometimes devastating life-threatening infections.: To determine the demand and use of dental services by patients attending the Dental clinic of Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, Jigawa between January 2011 and December 2012. : This a 2-years retrospective review of records of 205 cohorts, who had dental treatment between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2012 was performed at the dental clinic of our hospital. Patients' records were retrieved and analyzed for age, gender, diagnosis and treatment received. : The patients' ages ranged from 9 months to 64 years with overall average of 29.5± 12.1 years. The mean age of male patients was 31.4 ± 11.4 years and females of 26.5 ± 12.8 years stst(p=0.0045). Majority (61%) of the patients were males with male female ratio of 1.6:1. Majority of the patients (86%) were below 40 years while 38% were in their 3 decade of life. Bivariate analysis showed a statistically significant difference between the age of male and female patients (t=-2.87, df=203.0, p=0.0045).Most (61%) of the patients were diagnosed with dental caries while 26.3% had periodontal diseases. Surgical procedure was the major treatment option utilized by most patients (58.5%) while 22.9% had periodontal trailing. Specifically, 55.6% of the patients had tooth extraction.
